Animal Welfare Week Day 2 - Animal testing

ANIMAL WELFARE WEEK

Day 2 animal testing

Admittedly, I have never dealt with the topic so intensively myself. Animal testing is deeply rooted in medicine and basic research and has not yet been replaced, as medicines without animal testing, for example, are not approved.

Chemicals and environmentally hazardous influences can also be tested on animals.

We actually prohibit animal testing of cosmetics, but many people take advantage of the loophole that individual components are not included in this ban.

The experiments are varied and I cannot explain the procedure here, otherwise the post will probably be blocked, but the animals suffer a lot.

The impression is often given that without animal testing there would be no medical progress and that they would have to be replaced 1:1, but it would be much more important to focus on the scientific validity. More and more doctors are now speaking out against animal experiments because they are outdated as research methods and suggest a level of safety that does not show the results to this extent.

People differ greatly from one another, as do different animal species. Animal testing cannot therefore be transferred to humans as it always seems. Many even say that animal testing hinders medical progress because the tests are stubbornly carried out without looking in other directions (more on this at aerzte-gegen-tierexperimente.de )

We as private individuals can start on a smaller scale by making sure to buy products that are completely and not just partially cruelty-free. For cosmetics, for example, this would be Lavera, Benesco, Sante (which belongs to, but now belongs to, L'Oréal).

When it comes to cleaning products, it's a little more difficult; for example, Ecover, Method and Sonett are on the list without animal testing.

If you have your own suggestions and good experiences with products, please write them in the comments.
